5 ways to make an impact in your community
Here at America’s Miss Sweetheart Organization, we are known for serving people on a local and national scale because we value community service. It takes one act of kindness to make a difference in someone’s life and that’s why when it comes to YOU making an impact, we’ve got you covered. Here are 5 ways you can make an impact in your area today!
1. Join an organization
This is a fun way to meet new people who are passionate about the same things as you. Joining a local or national organization can make work more impactful because you have a team of people on your side. Like our organization, there are thousands of others around the globe, each with a unique purpose. We encourage you to search those organizations to discover which has the same goals, missions, and purpose as you!
2. Donate to charity
One of the simplest yet efficient ways of giving back to your community is, quite frankly, by giving! Organizations are always looking for financial support to cover costs related to their mission. Funding can help pay for events, provide research, aid, supplies, and more! America’s Miss Sweetheart’s national charities include St.Judes, Charity Water, Cure, Angel Tree, and Feeding America. All of which are in need of donations to operate successfully. (If you would like to make a donation to any of the charities mentioned above, click on our “Charity” page located under the about tab).
3. Host a fundraiser/event
Similar to donating is hosting a fundraiser or event on behalf of a particular organization. This can include but is not limited to toy drives, run/walks, concerts where proceeds go towards supporting an issue, and more! This can be lots of fun when prepared in advance because it truly brings the community together for a greater cause. It allows you to step outside of the ordinary bounds of giving because it offers more than words could say. Hosting on behalf of an organization shows dedication, leadership, and care.
4. Advocate an issue
When you advocate for an issue, you speak light on a subject you feel most people overlook. Topics could be relating to something that happened to you or in your personal life, but it could also be anything you’re passionate about. Become a spokesmodel for that by doing your best to make others more aware whenever you can!
5. Start something new
For all you creative folks out there, this one’s for you! It requires you to start something brand new relating to your passions but giving back to your community at the same time. For example, if you like drawing maybe you could draw pictures to give to the elderly. Anything that is helpful and can bring someone a smile is great for this. We invite you to be the best and most unique version of you to influence others in a positive way. Please only do what you feel most confident and comfortable doing.
